A small, free, read-only API for food truck discovery data — built for local news embeds, event apps, and city tourism sites. This is a demo project; treat all data as illustrative, not real business listings.
All endpoints are rate-limited to 100 requests/hour per IP. This is a policy statement for this demo — no separate API key or auth is required to try the endpoints below.
/api/live-trucksReturns all currently live (open) food trucks. Optionally filter by location and radius.
Query params: lat, lng (optional — filters to trucks within radius miles of this point), radius (optional, default 10 miles).
Response: { success: true, live: [ { truckId, lat, lng, address, isOpen, lastOpenedAt } ] }
/api/trucks/{slug}Returns the full profile for a single truck by its slug (e.g. verde-tacos).
Response: { success: true, truck: { id, slug, name, location, profile, live, menu, ... } } or a 404 with { success: false, error: "Truck not found" } if the slug doesn't exist.
/api/city/{state}/{city}Returns all trucks whose home base is in the given city (e.g. /api/city/AZ/Phoenix). State and city matching is case-insensitive.
Response: { success: true, state, city, count, trucks: [ ... ] }
fetch('https://tortapatrol.com/api/live-trucks?lat=33.4484&lng=-112.0740&radius=5')
.then(res => res.json())
.then(data => {
console.log(data.live); // array of live trucks near downtown Phoenix
});
Free for now, for demo/evaluation purposes. Tell us about your use case and we'll follow up.
